MUW Senior Art Exhibit Set for April 21-May 10
COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Mississippi University for Women’s Senior Art
Exhibit will hang on display in the temporary fine arts gallery in
Shattuck Hall from April 21 through May 10. A reception honoring the
participants is scheduled for Friday, May 9 from 6 to 8 p.m.
“Each student has installed his or her own area and done the necessary
signage,” Larry Feeney, gallery director, said. “This is considered to be
part of their exit experience and is another means of the university
judging their growth and development.
“When we lost our Eugenia Summer Gallery space, we were not sure what
we would do for exhibitions. We are fortunate that the university created
such a handsome space for our temporary gallery.”
The Eugenia Summer Gallery is located in the Fine Arts Building, which
was damaged during the November 2002 tornado. The faculty and staff in the
Division of Fine and Performing Arts has been temporarily moved to
Poindexter and Shattuck halls until the building is repaired.
There are 14 students participating in the Senior Art Exhibit. They are
Maria Tucci, art education major; John Wilkerson, drawing and painting
major; Leila Haj Hassan, Cary Haycox, Sara McTaggart, Kevin Onyango and
Hannah Rieves, all graphic design majors; and Brittany Breckenridge
Sanderson, Erin Creekmore, Jennifer Medlin, Kirsti Priddy, Courtney Paige
Rowan, Keely Schult and Anna Weems, all interior design majors.
The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular class hours
in Shattuck and by special arrangement after hours. For more information,
please contact the Division of Fine and Performing Arts at (662) 329-7341. |
