COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Mississippi University for Women’s Homecoming,
scheduled for April 24-27, promises to be a weekend full of fun.
“We are very excited about this year’s Homecoming,” Patsy McDaniel,
director of Alumni Relations, said. “There are lots of wonderful events
scheduled for our alumni, and we hope the public will join us for several
of the events. It should be a great weekend.”
The festivities begin on Thursday, April 24 at 5 p.m. with a fish fry
at Plymouth Bluff Center. There also will be a Celebration of Service
Reception in honor of Eugenia Summer, class of 1945, of Columbus. Tickets
for the fish fry are $10.
Later that evening, there will be a ghost tour beginning at Puckett
House at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10, and it includes a ghost tour T-shirt.
Friday, April 25 is packed with events. The Arts Fair will be held in
the Hogarth W Room from 1-6 p.m. Alumni will have their artistic works set
up for show and sale.
The dedication of the memorial for Dave Evans, a beloved W professor
for 41 years who died in November 2002, will be held at 4 p.m. on the lawn
between Welty Hall and Carrier Chapel.
There will be a reception and art exhibit at the Rosenzweig Arts Center
in downtown Columbus from 5-7 p.m., and the evening will conclude with at
Choral Extravaganza in Poindexter Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.
A Mystery Theatre and Dinner is planned for Saturday, April 26 at 7
p.m. in the Hogarth Banquet Room. Tickets are $25 per person.
