MUW to host meeting Of State NMWA
COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Mississippi University for Women will host the
Mississippi State Committee of the National Museum of the Women in the
Arts on Thursday, March 27 at the Plymouth Bluff Center.
The “showcase exhibit” meeting will give the approximately 200 members
the opportunity to bring a work of art to exhibit during the one-day
meeting that will include lunch.
“This is a very important way for artists in the state and those
interested in the arts to meet each other, see each other’s works and talk
art,” said Eugenia Summer, a member and a 1945 MUW alumna from Columbus
who is helping organize the meeting.
While this meeting will emphasize the visual arts, Summer said that the
National Museum of Women in the Arts promotes all of the arts: poetry,
fiction, dance, music and theater. The Museum also strongly supports art
in schools and in Girl Scouting.
The cost to attend the meeting is $25, and you must be a member to
attend. For more information about becoming a member of the Mississippi
State Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, please
contact Nancy Spiker at P.O. Box 2233, Pascagoula, MS 39569, (228)
762-0845 or (228) 522-0408. The $50 dues can be paid the day of the
meeting. |
