MUW receives $106,000 gift from local supporter

COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Mississippi University for Women received a $106,000 gift from a Columbus supporter through the MUW Foundation. The donor has asked to remain anonymous.

The donor said, "I believe The W has hired a smart lady who is willing to make tough decisions which will ensure a successful future. I have every confidence that she is making and will continue to make the right decisions and that is why I made this gift at this time."

Specific use of these funds will be established by the donor at a later time but will be used to benefit some area of the academic program.

This gift follows previously reported gifts made in December which had the largest amount made in donations for a one-month period in the university's 100-plus year history totaling more than $1 million.

Dr. Claudia Limbert, MUW president, said, "The donor is so excited to be able to make this gift and to be a part of helping The W be a stronger university."

W. Scott Rawles, vice president for institutional advancement, said, "This is a great gift, given by a most remarkable person. The W has much to celebrate, we also have much to do as we seek to build additional funding support."
