Valentine Extravaganza promises evening of elegance
COLUMBUS, Miss. -- The Lowndes County Alumni Association of Mississippi
University for Women will hosts its fifth annual Valentine Extravaganza on
Friday, Feb. 14 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Proceeds from this evening of elegance will benefit the association's
scholarship fund.
Guests will be treated to hors d'oeuvres, fine wines and an assortment
of decadent desserts.
The cuisine will include carved beef tenderloin, lamb chops and shrimp
prepared and served by students in The W's culinary arts program under the
direction of Chef Sarah Labensky.
This year’s extravaganza will be held at Rosedale the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Gene Imes. A part of the annual Pilgrimage, Rosedale is considered
one of the finest examples of Italianate architecture in Mississippi.
Often the subject of articles and reviews, the home features the nation's
largest furniture collection by American craftsman John Henry Belter.
