MUW experiences record giving for the month of December

COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Mississippi University for Women experienced the largest giving in its history for the month of December.

More than $1 million was given, which included a variety of sources, including

unrestricted gifts and scholarship endowments.

MUW President Claudia Limbert said, "We are clearly turning a corner at The W. I am overwhelmed by the wonderful support MUW is receiving in so many areas, including gifts to our university. MUW is indeed looking forward to a bright future."

Scott Rawles, MUW vice president for institutional advancement, added, "At the beginning of December, we initiated some new efforts that we are very pleased had a positive outcome."

Rawles, who was appointed in November as MUW's first vice president for institutional advancement, said "Those who love The W have a wonderful opportunity to invest in the university's future with gifts now."

Alma mater to more than 20,000 alumni, MUW has plans to begin a comprehensive effort to seek and secure gifts.

Connie Kossen, chairman of the MUW Foundation Board of Directors, said "We're really excited Mississippi University for Women experienced the largest giving in its history for the month of December. We're really excited about the progress we are making. President Limbert's leadership is taking The W in the right direction therefore gifts will follow."
