MUW to host annual Scholars' Day COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Mississippi University for Women will host about 250 guests, including high school students and their parents from Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and Texas, as part of the annual Scholars' Day program on Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7. The academically gifted students will interview for MUW's most prestigious scholarships and have an opportunity to see the campus firsthand. "I am really excited about this year's event," said Cassie Derden, coordinator of recruitment. "The Office of Admissions has worked hard to get quality people and make this event successful." Home schooled students will participate as well as two international students from Romania and Bulgaria, who will interview by phone, according to Derden. Friday's activities will include registration, organizational displays, campus tours, an opening banquet, Love Feast and the lighting of the Christmas tree. Love Feast, which will highlight the weekend, is a Christmas choral presentation that begins the Christmas season for The W. The program is open to the public and will begin at 8:15 p.m. Saturday's events will include interviews, a campus tour, academic displays, a financial aid session and closing luncheon. For more information, contact the MUW Office of Admissions toll-free at 1-877-462-8439, ext. 7106, or (662) 329-7106. |
