Glass named humanities teacher of the year

COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Dr. Will Glass, professor of history, has been named the 2002 humanities teacher of the year.

"Every year MUW and the Mississippi Humanities Council honor a faculty member for excellence in teaching and in the scholarship which leads to such excellence," said Dr. Bridget Pieschel, head of the Division of Humanities.

Glass was one of three professors in the humanities division nominated for this honor.

He has been teaching history for the past 16 years, nine of which have been at Mississippi University for Women.

Glass teaches history of civilization, U.S. history survey and upper level history classes such as women's history, African-American history, history of the South and religion in America.

He also teaches courses in film studies such as movies and American society, southern literature and film and film censorship.

Last year Mercer University Press Published his book titled "Strangers in Zion: Fundamentals in the South,"1900-1950.
