MUW names vice president for institutional advancement COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Scott Rawles, the chief development officer at Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C., since 1996, has been appointed vice president for institutional advancement at Mississippi University for Women, pending approval at the upcoming College Board meeting. He began working with The W on a consulting basis on Nov. 18. His official appointment begins Dec. 2. At Converse, Rawles was responsible for overall direction of the college's advancement programs including management of the development, alumnae and marketing and communications departments. Fundraising under Rawles' leadership has totaled more than $77 million at Converse College. "We are delighted to have Scott Rawles join The W family," MUW President Claudia A. Limbert said. "He brings a wealth of fundraising experience to the university." Rawles has a bachelor's degree from Mercer University and has received extensive continuing education in development and management, including programs offered by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. He is a founding member of the South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities Development Group and a current board member of the Charles Lea Center Foundation. He also is involved with the United Way of Habersham County and has been involved with Easter Seals of Spartanburg County. He and his wife, Genie, have two children. |
