Exhibit features MUW faculty artwork

COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Artwork by seven full-time Mississippi University for Women faculty is featured at the Eugenia Summer Gallery until Friday, Oct. 25.

The faculty exhibition includes work by Dr. Sue Coates, Shawn Dickey, Larry Feeney, Robert Gibson, Martie Geiger-Ho, Robert Manning and Tom Nawrocki.

Dr. Coates work includes interior design renovations of the President's Home and Puckett House on campus.

Four large three-dimensional serigraph triptychs and an equal number of photographs are a part of Dickey's showing.

A display by Feeney will include a number of pencil drawings.

Gibson's showing consists of assemblages with religious motifs as well as acrylic paintings and designs.

Geiger-Ho will display several off-the-wall pieces and hung sculptural work.

Manning will exhibit six recent design studies from an ongoing series.

Rounding out the exposition will be two series of works, colorgraphs and large Plexiglas mixed media wall hangings, by Nawrocki.

In November, most of the faculty exhibition will travel to the Delta State Fine Arts Gallery for an exchange show while their art instructors work will be on display in the Eugenia Summer Gallery on The W campus.

The faculty exhibition at MUW coincides with the photographic panorama by David Rae Morris titled "Look Away."

"Look Away" is an extended series of photographs that includes work found in "My Mississippi," the collaborative book Morris did with his late father Willie Morris.

The exhibits will kick off Welty Weekend at The W and the inauguration of Dr. Claudia A. Limbert as MUW's 13th president, Oct. 17-19. The gallery space also will be the site of the Institutions of Higher Learning monthly meeting.

Both exhibits are free and open to the public. For more information, call the Division of Fine and Performing arts at (662) 329-7341.
