MUW to hold orientation sessions, concerts COLUMBUS, Miss. -- To help freshman and transfer students ease into college life at Mississippi University for Women, the Office of Student Life will host three new student orientations. Freshman sessions will be held Thursday, July 11 and Friday, July 12 and Thursday, July 18 and Friday, July 19. The transfer session is scheduled for Tuesday, July 16. Joe Lowder, assistant director of student life, said "Orientation gives students an opportunity to connect with current W students and familiarize themselves with the campus early on so they don't come in blind in the fall." The sessions will include a welcome, academic displays, student organization displays, advising and registration, residence hall tours and other scheduled activities. Concerts on the Green will be held during the freshman orientations. The Friday Night Gigolos band will perform July 11 at 7 p.m. The Jennifer Nettles Band will perform July 18. Both concerts will be held on Shattuck Lawn and are free and open to the public. For more information, call the Office of Student Life at (662) 329-7129. |
