ADMINISTRATIVE
The Administrative department is responsible for overall operations of the Physical Plant.  This department oversees the mechanical, general and grounds maintenance departments.  It is also responsible for assigning work orders, tracking the progress of renovation and new construction projects and performing general office tasks.
 
CONSTRUCTION
The Construction department maintains the buildings and structures on campus.  This department constructs most of the non-maintenance projects such as adding walls, building bookshelves, cabinets, etc. 
 
CUSTODIAL
The Custodial department is responsible for cleaning all buildings in use on campus.  This includes trash removal; window cleaning; dusting; sweeping, mopping, buffing and waxing of floors; carpet care and keeping the restrooms supplied.
 
ELECTRIC
The Electric department is responsible for maintaining the main supply of electrical power to campus, power in each individual building, fire alarm systems, sound and lighting equipment, elevators and light bulbs.  This department also installs computer wiring in conjunction with the campus fiber optic backbone. 
 
GROUNDS
The Grounds department maintains the grounds on campus.  This includes designing landscapes around buildings; planting those materials included in the design; mowing; edging; weedeating; blowing off sidewalks; trash pick up; planting and weeding flower beds; maintaining athletic fields; watering, fertilizing and pruning the plants.
 
HEATING / VENTILATING / AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC)
The HVAC department is responsible for maintaining the cooling and heating systems on campus.  This includes maintaining chillers, cooling towers, pumps, air handlers and boilers.
 
LOCKSMITH
The Locksmith department controls the building access on campus. This department issues new keys, re-keys locks when keys are lost and maintains all of the door hardware such as locks and closures.  The locksmith is also responsible for the maintenance and control of the card access system. 
 
MECHANIC
The Mechanic department is responsible for maintaining the vehicles for Physical Plant, Security and the motor pool.  This department takes care of over 50 vehicles by performing routine maintenance and making minor repairs.
 
PAINTING
The Painting department maintains the interior and exterior finishes on the campus buildings.  This includes painting, sheetrock/plaster work as well as marking spaces for parking. 
 
PLUMBING / POWER PLANT
The Plumbing division is responsible for maintaining all storm and sanitary sewer lines, domestic water lines,  gas lines, water heaters and plumbing in all buildings.  The Power Plant division is responsible for maintaining the heating supply and distribution system.  The power plant has boilers that produce steam which is then distributed across campus through an underground steam tunnel.  The steam is used to heat water which, in turn, is used to heat the buildings.
