| The Magnolia Dormitory was constructed by Dorms, Inc. and purchased by the Mississippi State College for Women on December 22, 1971. It provided residential housing for W students until the early 80's but has since been closed. It was then used as a storage facility for the university. The Magnolia Dorm is now being demolished by D.H. Griffin Wrecking Co., Inc. Demolition began April 23, 2002 and is scheduled to be completed by September 20, 2002. The dorm was scheduled to be imploded sometime in late June 2002 but due to disposal regulations it will have to be taken down with heavy machinery. This project is approximately 95% complete at this time. Due to bad weather this project is on hold until favorable site conditions exist for completion. Click here for updated photos. |
