Special Notice to Staff and Faculty -

We are asking everyone on campus to use the correct school mailing address so that we can eliminate the problem of mail being held at the main post office and in our postal facility as well.

All incoming mail should be addressed as follows:

(Your Name)
1100 College Street
*MUW-(Your Box Number)
Columbus, MS 39701-5800

*- The Box Number is the most important part of the address.  Without this number there is an increase in the time to look up each and every box number for mail that comes in.  This problem causes a delay in the processing of your incoming mail.  We are being asked by the larger distribution facilities to let everyone know the correct mailing address.

We are also still receiving outgoing metered mail that is in the old-style envelopes.  These envelopes are the ones with the large W at the top of the return address.  This design has the return zip code too low.  This causes mail to be marked with out Zip Code (39701-5800) and returned to us the next day.  This is why most offices on campus have received some pieces of mail back the next day after shipping them out.

This can be corrected by placing a blank white address label over the return address prior to bringing them to the post office.

Thank you,
Post Office
