2. The Distance Learning Advisory Committee shall be comprised of five faculty members, with no more than one faculty member from each academic division that offers distance learning courses and the Director of Continuing Education and Distance Learning. The chair shall be the Director of Continuing Education & Distance Learning. The committee shall meet at least once per semester and as necessary to review courses proposed for delivery by distance learning technologies. Non-voting staff members with special expertise may be asked to serve in an ad hoc capacity on the committee.
3. The committee shall periodically review the syllabi and course delivery for SREC Best Practices for all courses taught through distance learning technologies and provide feedback and advice to the instructor and her or his division head. Course delivery shall be evaluated by the committee for SREC Best Practices during the first semester they are taught. Thereafter, the committee shall establish a system of periodic peer review to ensure SREC Best Practices are met.
4. The committee shall consult with all divisions on campus (academic and administrative) to facilitate planning of distance learning, promote consistent distance learning practices, and foster cooperation between divisions in providing the resources and courses necessary for successful distance learning programs.
5. The committee shall aid the Office of Continuing Education and Distance
Learning in educating faculty about distance learning technologies and
issues. This shall include conducting training sessions in distance learning
technologies, providing assistance for instruction, and disseminating information
about distance learning through other means.
