1.
The
Planning and Institutional Effectiveness (PIE) Council is the principal
instrument through which the University’s program of continuous
improvement is
administered. With the assistance of the
University’s functional units, the PIE Council develops the
University’s
strategic plan, insures that budgeting is based upon sound educational
planning, collects and analyzes data, monitors progress toward
attainment of
goals, reports results, and recommends actions to improve performance.
2.
Members
of the PIE Council are appointed by the President.
The chair will be appointed specifically for
that function by the President. In addition to the chair, appointed
membership
will consist of nine faculty members (three from the

Appointed
members other than students, Faculty Senate Secretary, and Staff
Council Vice
President will serve staggered three-year terms. Students,
Faculty Senate Secretary and Staff
Council Vice President will serve during the period they hold the
specific
office.
4.
If
a faculty member is appointed Chair, appropriate release time may be
provided.
5.
PIE
Council should meet at least once per month during the academic year. Annual planning and reporting documents
should be developed and disseminated campus wide. Minutes
from all meetings should be made
available for campus review.
