PURPOSE:  To define the functions of the Honors College Committees

OPERATING DETAILS: 

1.    The Honors College has two committees: the Honors Faculty Committee and the Honors Student Committee. Membership of the Honors Faculty Committee consists of twelve faculty members appointed by the Chief Academic Officer in consultation with the Academic Deans and the Honors Director. At least one faculty member comes from each College and degree-granting Institute.  Membership of the Honors Student Committee consists of seven student representatives, who are elected by the honors student body: president, vice-president, secretary, and four class representatives. The president of the Honors Student Committee serves as ex-officio member of the Honors Faculty Committee.

2.    The Honors Faculty Committee advises the Director of the Honors College and the Chief Academic Officer about the policies, the curriculum, and the direction of the Honors College. Members of the Honors Faculty Committee also serve as honors readers on individual students’ honors project committees and evaluate the presentations of the completed projects at the Research Symposium each semester.

3.     The Honors Student Committee advises the Director of the Honors College about the direction of the Honors College and assists the Director in programming and recruitment.
