OPERATING DETAILS:

  1. All  individuals or entities wishing to sell items to the university must contact the Purchasing Office.  Off-campus individuals or entities wishing to sell items or promote products or services on campus must secure permission from the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.  When the sale or solicitation is aimed primarily at faculty or staff, or both, the Vice President for Finance and Administration will consult with the Director of Human Resources. Solicitation by vendors is prohibited unless it is sponsored by a university division, department or student organization.
  2. Sponsorship of a vendor by a university division, department or student organization does not constitute endorsement of that vendor’s item, product or service.
  3. All  individuals or entities selling or promoting products or services on campus must obtain written permits from the Office of Student Affairs showing dates and places allowed to sell or promote.  This permission must be available for inspection by campus personnel.  Door to door solicitations in any campus building will not be permitted.
  4. Recognized university organizations or administrative units may conduct on-campus sales or fund-raising activities in Hogarth Student Center, residence hall lobbies or other areas designated by the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. Sales or fund-raising activities should be scheduled four weeks in advance of the event in the Office of Student  Affairs. These activities will be approved on a first come basis and scheduled so as not to interfere with the success of another sale or drive.
  5. To prevent duplication, sales or fund-raising activities, on or off campus, should be coordinated through the Office of Student Affairs. The  Director of Development must approve all off-campus fund raising activities including all forms of advertising.
  6. Individuals or entities may not conduct sales for personal profit unless such sale is part of a university-sponsored event. Non-university individuals or entities selling  products or services  on the university grounds must be sponsored by a university division, department, or student organization and  will be required to pay a flat fee or a percentage of sales to the sponsoring organization or department.
  7. Raffles, lotteries and similar activities require special written permission from the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.
  8. Fund-raising food sales are restricted to the Post Office lobby of the Student Center, to residence hall lobbies, and the Culinary Arts Building unless special written permission is obtained from the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.
  9. Solicitation for application of credit cards carries the following restrictions:
    1. Annual fee and annual percentage rates for card must be prominently displayed.
    2. No giveaways may be associated with such solicitation (e.g., candy, T-shirts, etc.).
