OPERATING DETAILS:
  1. The Plymouth Bluff Center is a Corps of Engineers facility leased to Mississippi University for Women for operation and maintenance (50-year lease initiated in 1996).  The Center is situated on 148 acres of U. S. Government property along the old Tombigbee River channel and part of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway.  An adjoining 42 acres of property owned by MUW is considered an integral part of the Center, and its use will be governed by this policy statement.
  2. The Center is an environmental education facility for use by the University.  It also offers programs for other educational institutions and for the public.  Plymouth Bluff includes a conference center that may be used by businesses, industries, governmental agencies, educational institutions, and private groups.
  3. The Center must operate as a self-sufficient ancillary operation.
  4. Operation of the Plymouth Bluff Center is the responsibility of a Director (or outside contractor) who reports directly to the Vice President for Finance and Administration.
  5. All arrangements for meeting space, lodging, and instruction for outdoor classes must be made through the Office of the Director of the Plymouth Bluff Center.  All rates and procedures are recommended by the Director, based upon factors such as facility usage, time, and number of people involved and are approved by the Vice President for Finance and Administration and the President.
  6. Academic needs of the Science and Mathematics division will receive priority consideration in scheduling activities at Plymouth Bluff.  Such use must be coordinated through the Office of the Director of the Plymouth Bluff Center.
