The application and interpretation of the MUW Policy Statements must comply with

1. applicable federal and state laws and regulations;
2. policies of the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) as adopted by the IHL Board of Trustees;
3. applicable regulations passed by entities that exercise supervision over aspects of MUW, such as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the National Collegiate Athletic Association; and
4. applicable professional standards, such as generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and applicable governmental reporting standards adopted by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
