Welcome to the Mississippi
University for Women (and Smart Men, too)
Graduate Nursing Web-page!
Dear Potential Applicant:
As a potential student
I know that you have many questions concerning obtaining
a Master’s Degree in Nursing. I hope the information
provided here will be helpful in your decision about
attending MUW. If you want to become a Family Nurse
Practitioner you would be joining a cadre of nurse
practitioner professionals. Many of the nurse
practitioners in Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana,
graduated from the “W”. MUW has had a nurse practitioner
program since 1974, the first in Mississippi, graduating
over 500 advanced practice nurses. Our pass rate on
national certification the last 3 years has been a
notable 100%.
The Graduate Nursing Program takes
one calendar year to complete. It is a full time
endeavor that is very concentrated. The faculty consists
of all nurse practitioners who remain current by
practicing one day a week. They all have varied
backgrounds ranging from neonatal (NNP), pediatrics
(PNP), family (FNP), and adult (ANP).
