B.S. in Public Health Education.
Students in the B.S. in Public Health Education (BSPHE) program are expected to have 320 contact hours of public health education experience by the time they receive their degree. HKH 498 is a 6-credit course intended to be a 320 hour capstone experience for students during their last semester in the program. The HKH 498 internship course is designed to provide students with field experience in an approved agency selected by the student. The student will apply the knowledge of theoretical concepts, professional skills, and practical applications presented during the public health education coursework. The internship experience may include: conducting needs assessments, planning/implementing programs, working with evaluation, developing health education and other program materials, and marketing of health-related programs.
