  About the program

MUW offers both a Mathematics major (B.A. and B.S.) and a Mathematics with Teacher Certification major (B.S.).

The mathematics program is an integral part of the small college atmosphere of MUW. Our classes are small and taught by outstanding faculty members who love mathematics and love teaching. Every student is treated as an individual. Our program provides quality instruction, individual academic advising by faculty members, a range of student activities, and guidance as to the next step after obtaining a degree from MUW.

Studying mathematics not only prepares a student for careers with an obvious mathematical foundation, but also develops fundamental skills of reasoning, critical thinking, problem solving, and communication that are valuable in any career and throughout life. Recent graduates in mathematics have continued on to jobs as actuaries, computer programmers, and mathematics teachers. Other graduates have moved on to doctoral programs in mathematics at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and the University of Missouri in Columbia. Graduate school in engineering or computer science and seminary school are other places that our graduates have gone.
