Eudora Welty Writers Symposium
Since its inception in October, 1989, the symposium has continued annually to encourage the reading and discussion of Southern literature. Each year authors and scholars whose works fit the year's theme are invited as featured speakers for the three-day event. One highlight of the symposium is the announcement of the Eudora Welty Prize for an unpublished book of scholarship on women's studies, Southern studies, or modern letters. The symposium is free and open to the public. The symposium will be held October 19-21, 2006. Visit the Welty Symposium Website for more information.
