The Culinary Connection
- Eigth Annual Valentine's Day Extravaganza, February 14, 2006

The eighth annual Valentine's Extravaganza sponsored by the Lowndes County Alumni Association of Mississippi University for Women was held on Tuesday, February 14 from seven o’clock until nine o’clock in the evening.  This year the event was graciously hosted by Dava and Stephen Imes at Snowdoun, 906 Third Avenue North, Columbus.  Coordinators were Jennifer and Ron Locke of Columbus.  This year 115 guests attended.  This wonderful response from the Columbus and surrounding communities is a testament to the hard work by the coordinators, the hosts and of course Patsy McDaniel and her staff in Alumni Affairs.   Cuisine as has been the tradition since the event began 8 years ago was provided by our own MUW Culinary Arts Institute.  This year students from both the Service and Design Management class with Instructor Chef Scott McKenzie, and the CA 301 Prep II classes of Chef Erich Ogle, designed and executed a beautiful and well received menu.  Student volunteers from the World Cuisine and Intro to Culinary Arts classes rounded out the professional chef crew.    Guests in fine cocktail attire had a wonderful Valentine evening of food, conversation and fun while enjoying the elegant atmosphere of Snowdoun.  Gail Laws and Patsy McDaniel are already thinking about next year on the heels of such a smashing event this year.   A glimpse of the menu and a montage of pictures can be viewed from links noted at the end of this article.  Proceeds from the event benefit the Lowndes County Scholarship Fund.  If you missed it, shame on you.  You can take a peek at pictures that take you from preparing the food to enjoying the evening by clicking here.  To view the menu just visit this link.   Bon appetit!
