MISSISSIPPI UNIVERSITY FOR WOMEN
AN HONORS RESEARCH AND CREATIVE WEB DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
HO 303 Honors Seminar: Mind, Body, Spirit
Fall 2000

Course Information

Instructors

Dr. Judith A. Coe
Assistant Professor of Music

Dr. Amy Pardo
Assistant Professor of English

Our paths this semester united the mind, body and spirit of woman through a myriad of experiences from Emily Dickinson's poetry to Jennifer Saunder's Absolutely Fabulous, from Ellen Foster's journey to find her self to Helene Cixcious' definition of selfhood for women, from Rocky's horror to our class's.  Dr. Coe and Dr. Pardo thank this Honors seminar course for enriching our own experiences.

A conventional syllabus is not furnished for this seminar, as the class will use an organic instructional model, growing from student thoughts and concerns and not from professors' perspectives.  A general idea is provided, including specific real and cyber resources.  All reading material will be available 5 days prior to discussion in class.  This seminar will depend heavily upon collective and collaborative student involvement and vigorous participation.  Guidelines will be provided at each class meeting.

Evaluation

Grades will be determined as follows:

33% - attendance, including class participation
33% - final project
33% - research and writing contributions to creation of a class website
