Text: The Girl With the Pearl Earring, Tracy Chevalier

Objective: The purpose of the Honors Forum is to provide an educational and challenging program for the Honors Students on a bi-monthly basis.  The meetings may include a variety of activities such as formal presentations, films, and discussions.  The meetings will take place in Carrier Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. unless otherwise indicated.

Attendance:  The student is permitted to miss the forum only once during the term. Anyone who signs into the forum and does not sign out will be considered absent once for every two times.  Anyone who sits and talks or studies during the presentation will be marked absent without the opportunity to make up that absence. One cannot expect an opportunity to make up for every excessive absences although one can be redeemed by attendance at a campus cultural event.  An excused absence is, nevertheless, an absence.

Expectations: The requirements of the forum include regular attendance and participation in the bi-montly programs in Carrier Chapel.  The student will turn in a one-page summary of the content of each forum before s/he leaves the two-hour session.  You will not be counted present if this summary is not turned in, and they cannot be turned in late.  Every student is expected to have an e-mail address and to check her/his e-mail regularly. This is a requirement, and failure to comply will result in a letter grade reduction.

Note:  As with any other course for academic credit, the student is not automatically entitled to make up an absence nor is s/he entitled to a passing grade
regardless of whether s/he meets the requirements of the course.
As with any other course, if you fail to show up regularly
or complete the requirements, you will not pass.
