Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Do I have to sign up for a Leadership class?
All Leadership Scholars must take Leadership classes.
Freshman take LDR 101in the Fall. Sophomores take LDR 201 in
the Fall. Transfers take LDR 250 in the Fall. Juniors take
LDR 301 in the Spring. Seniors take LDR 401 in the Fall.
2. I can’t sign up for my Leadership class because I will have an
overload of hours. What should I do?
Sign up for your Leadership Class! Let the Hearin Intern
know that you were charged overload hours so the charges can
be waived.
3. What should I do if I can’t take the Leadership class because
I have a time conflict with a class in my major?
You should complete a Written Excuse for Missing Leadership
Class form. The form must be signed by your advisor to be
approved. You will have different requirements to fulfill
your LDR Class requirement.
4. I am a current W student and I received a monetary award from
the Hearin Leadership Program; what are my requirements?
You should follow the requirements which fit your class
status.
5. I was awarded a W leadership scholarship and not a Hearin
Scholarship. Are my requirements any different?
Simply put - no. The requirements described here apply to
you.
6. What if I am having trouble getting my community service
hours?
Contact the Service Committee to obtain community service
availability. The committee maintains a directory of
community service organizations, plans service projects for
the Hearin Program, and will be happy to assist you.
7. What if I am having trouble finding an organization to join?
Contact the Office of Student Life. There are over
seventy-five (75) organizations on campus. The Office of
Student Life will be happy to assist you in finding an
organization to fit your interests.
8. What if I am unable to maintain a 2.5 GPA, or meet the other
requirements detailed on the checklist.
You will be unable to keep your scholarship if you are
unable to fulfill the requirements. However, sometimes
circumstances beyond our control occur. Special cases will
be addressed and handled on an individual basis. |
