Information for Continuing & Returning
Students
Federal Loan Process (Continuing/Returning
Students):
Step 1. Complete the Free Application for
Federal Student Aid on the Web at
www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Step 2. Once the FAFSA is processed, a
Student Aid Report (SAR) will be sent
directly to you for you to verify the
information you reported.
Step 3. MUW will notify you with an award
letter if you have received awards. Please
use your Banner Web account to accept or
decline any awards offered by our
institution. If you are taking out a
federal loan you must choose a lender. This
will require you to go our financial aid
homepage at
www.muw.edu/finaid
and click “Choose a Lender.” This will
allow you to select a lender for your
federal loan. Financial need is determined
by evaluating the family’s ability to pay
for educational costs.
Step 4. If you have taken out a federal
loan previously you should not have to
complete a Master promissory Note or
complete another Entrance Counseling session
online.
