Information for New Freshman and Transfer
Students
Federal Loan Process (New/Transfer
Students):
Step
1. New Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
on the Web at
www.fafsa.ed.gov. Transfer students who
already submitted a FAFSA but did not list
MUW should call 1-800-433-3243 to add MUW
school code 002422, or visit the website to
make corrections.
Step 2. Once the FAFSA is processed, a Student Aid Report (SAR) will be sent
directly to you for you to verify the
information you reported.
Step 3. After students are admitted to the university the MUW financial aid
center will mail an award letter indicating
the expected types of awards and amounts.
Please read your award letter carefully.
Students may also visit
Banner Web to view awards.
Step 4. Please use your Banner Web account (www.muw.edu) to accept or decline
any awards offered by our institution. To
login to Banner Web students need an ID
number and a date of birth.
Step 5. If you are taking out a federal loan you must choose a lender. This
will require you to go
“Loan Process”
page. This
will allow you to select a lender for your
federal loan. Financial need is determined
by evaluating the family’s ability to pay
for educational costs and determines
eligibility benefits for Stafford Loans.
