Dean's
Message
Welcome to the College of Education and Human
Sciences. I am very pleased that you have chosen
our college as a place to either begin your
academic career or to continue it through one of
our eight undergraduate and six graduate degree
programs. Our college contains the Department
of Education, Department of Health and
Kinesiology and the Department of Psychology &
Family Studies.
Our goal is for you to be successful in your
educational pursuits. Whether you want to be a
teacher, an exercise scientist, a psychologist,
a specialist in family life, a physical or
occupational therapist, or a school
administrator -- we have a program for you.
Our teacher education programs are accredited by
the National Council for the Accreditation of
Teacher Education (NCATE); a distinction held by
fewer than 600 programs across the country. Our
program in Family Studies prepares students to
receive the Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE)
designation from the National Council on Family
Relations.
We are proud of the hands-on nature of our
programs. If you are studying to become a
teacher, you will be immersed in school
experiences from your first professional courses
to student teaching. We also have opportunities
for hands-on learning for our psychology and
family studies majors in local agency settings
and clinics. We also have excellent hands-on
experiences in the Human Performance Lab for
exercise science students. We also provide
excellent hands-on learning experiences in all
of our graduate programs.
Our distinguished faculty and professional
advisors stand ready to assist you in your
academic pursuits. We want to help you become
part of our story here at MUW.
