Candidates for the Hall of Master Teachers are nominated by school administrators, fellow teachers, parents, or former students. The only requirements for the nominees are at least 15 years of full-time classroom teaching experience, including 7 years in Mississippi Schools, and evidence of long-time excellence in the classroom.
Requests for nominations are mailed each year to public school systems in Mississippi and to private and parochial schools.
Each nominee is required to complete a Candidate Information Form and provide supporting letters from (1) a fellow teacher, (2) an administrator, (3) a parent, and (4) a former student. The completed nomination packet is then submitted to the MHMT Steering Committee by May 31 and passed on to the appropriate In-State Selection Committee.
