- The finalists selected by the In-State Selection
Committees are evaluated by two Out-of-State Selection Committees (one for
elementary teachers and one for secondary) to determine which candidates
will be inducted into the Hall each year.
- The Out-of-State Committees consist of four classroom
teachers, two school administrators, and a representative
business/professional person. Generally, the teachers and administrators
on these committees have won awards for their contributions to education
in other states.
- The evaluation process followed by the Out-of-State
Selection Committees is the same as for the In-State Committees, using
the same Evaluation Form. The highest total score and the lowest are
dropped for each candidate, and the averages of the middle five scores determine which of the finalists will be
inducted.
- Generally, the five or six teachers with the highest
average scores from the Out-of-State Committees are inducted into the Hall
of Master Teachers each year.
- Any teacher selected for induction must receive at
least 85 per cent of the total points possible from the Out-of-State
Committee.
