The Mississippi Hall of Master Teachers was established in 1991 to provide recognition of long-time excellent teaching in Mississippi school systems. The Hall now includes 89 of Mississippi's finest, representing almost every teacher training program in the state and some from other states. Teachers who are inducted into the Hall have been judged on the basis of their professional activities, educational leadership, contributions to curriculum and course development, teaching philosophy and influence on students and other teachers. Even their involvement in extracurricular and community activities becomes a part of their evaluation. The 2008 Hall of Master Teachers event will be held at MUW on Friday, December 5, 2008. The keynote speaker will be Clifton L. Taulbert, a native Mississippian and an Executive Workshop Facilitator and Leadership Seminar Leader.
