I don’t do well with blood
or anything that requires a scalpel, but I was
determined to find an opportunity to suit me in the
medical profession. Because I sincerely want to help
people I decided that I wanted to go to college to
become a Pharmacist. The generous support of alumni like
you has provided the scholarship that has given me the
opportunity to pursue a degree in Microbiology from MUW.
Nothing could have prepared
me for all I have learned in one year as a student in
the Division of Science and Mathematics. I love doing
lab experiments and looking at new and interesting
specimens through a microscope. I like learning about
organisms that we take for granted because they are
microscopic, but are fundamental to human existence.
Studying science has opened me up to a new a world where
I look at everyday things, like a flower, with
amazement. It makes me look at everything more closely
than I could have ever imagined.
I feel extremely lucky to be
going to college because there are so many individuals
who do not ever have an opportunity like this. I
understand that I have been given something special and
I have worked hard to keep up my grades because I have
an incentive to do my best in school. Last semester I
got a 4.0 and I will continue to view my time at MUW as
precious and worthy of hard work.
When you invest in our
University, you not only help students like me discover
the rewards of higher education, you also show your
pride in being a part of the Long Blue Line. Your
annual gift counts you as someone who wants to see the
value of an MUW degree grow in the years to come.
Sincerely,
Carrie Pennington
