In a word, MUW’s Department of Communication is all
about Convergence.
The media convergence curriculum in the Department
of Communication prepares you, the student, to
examine your world.
Media convergence in the curriculum gives graduates
the capabilities to move from one medium to another,
thereby making them more marketable in a field where
media convergence is a growing trend.
Communication students at MUW have a record of
success:
● In 2007, The
Spectator was awarded first place in the news
writing category at the Southeast Journalism
Conference.
● In 2006, six students placed in the Mississippi
Press Association’s Best Newspaper Contest, with
wins for Best General News Story and Best Column.
● In 2005, eight students placed in the Mississippi
Press Association’s Best Newspaper Contest,
including a 1st place in Feature Writing and a 1st
place for Editorial Writing.
● In 1999, The Spectator, MUW’s
student newspaper, received the Southeast Journalism
Conference (SEJC) Student Newspaper of the Year
Award. |
