Academic training in Communication theory, processes and effects (interpersonal, mass & rhetoric). Research interests include media effects, social cognition, and media literacy. Presentations before Association for Education in Journalism & Mass Communication (AEJMC), National Communication Association (NCA), Southern States Communication Association, and Rhetorical Society of America (RSA). Peer-reviewer for journals such as Media Psychology. Published in Macmillan Reference’s Encyclopedia of Communication and Information (2002). Experience in radio announcing, production and programming.

Eighteen years working in corporate and government television as producer, director, and  consultant. Voice actor contributing character voices for nation-wide commercial productions. Published in Macmillan Reference’s Encyclopedia of Communication and Information (2002). Current MUW Communication Technology Coordinator.

Margaret Mary Henry

Harriet Stark Gibbons Distinguished Professor of Journalism at MUW, teaches Writing for the Media courses and is the adviser of the campus newspaper, The Spectator. She also oversees the annual Ray Furr journalism workshop. A journalist with almost 20 years of experience, Ms. Henry worked as a reporter and editor for The Christian Science Monitor in Boston, The Moscow Times in Russia, and The Sun Herald in Biloxi before joining the 'W faculty in fall 2004. Her articles have also appeared in The New York Times, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Dance Magazine and Ms. At The Christian Science Monitor she was chosen by her peers to receive the newspaper's award for excellence in editing, and her reporting has won prizes from the Mississippi Press Association and the Associated Press. She received her undergraduate degree in Russian language and literature from Georgetown University and a Master's degree from the Medill School of journalism at Northwestern University.

Academic training in history and media criticism. Research interest in film history and criticism, especially as related to U.S. World War II propaganda films. Twenty-five years experience in radio, television and film broadcast announcing, editing, production, and directing. Credited with twelve productions over fourteen years of community and academic video service. Award winning feature and spot news writer. Statewide and regional freelance movie reviewer.

Elected officer in SSCA. Published research on video games. Experience in television production, audio production, and graphic design.
