Tuesday, April 8 - 1:30 PM Spring Field Trip ”Gems: The World’s Wisdom Stories” uses storytelling styles from many cultures including masks, mime, inventive costumes and puppetry to introduce students to a collection of wisdom stories from around the world. Each performance includes four story productions chosen from the following stories: “The Lion and the Mouse,” “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” (Aesop’s), “The Drippy Nose Boy” (Native American), “The Lame Man and The Blind Man” (The Middle East), “The Tiger’s Whisker” (Korea), “The Crocodile and the Monkey” (India), and others. Art, Fables, Language, Dramatic Arts, Puppets, Reading , Social Studies, and Performance Etiquette. Thursday, March 27 - 1:30 PM The Women’s Center for Entrepreneurship will host its first leadership and entrepreneurship conference at Mississippi University for Women on Thursday, March 27 and Friday, March 28. The theme is “Connecting the Dots through the Ages: Embracing Entrepreneurial Thinking as a Way of Life.” The Crossroads girls will go to a culinary demonstration, participate in leadership activities with the Hearin Leaders at MUW, and attend a panel discussion in the President’s Dining Room, an etiquette class, and a banquet that night.Tuesday, March 25 - 1:30 PM The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is based on the classic story by Mark Twain. Tom’s adventures begin with a whitewashed fence, a sweet girl named Becky, Huckleberry Finn, and tales of pirating and treasure hunting. Only after a surprising funeral and a murder trial where the truth is uncovered does the audience see Tom not only as an adventurer but also as a moral hero. Join Birmingham Children’s Theatre to share in lessons of bravery, truth and adventure where Tom meets his match and mischievous fun begins…Tom Sawyer style.
