  • Be accessible to residents by speeding adequate time in the living area and posting a weekly schedule and hours available.

  • Take initiative to know the residents and be approachable.

  • An RTA is not permitted to enter into any employment situations (paid or unpaid) without a written request to and response from the Community Director of their area. Any such employment is not to exceed 10 hours/week. Other outside commitments must be discussed with and approved by the Assistant Director of Housing.

  • An RTA must limit his/her time away from campus and the community to two weekends per month.

  • An RTA can expect to spend a greater amount of time in the support and assistance roll at the beginning of the semester (when most students need assistance) and again near the end of the semester (prior to exams).

  • RTAs are required to arrive early and attend a two day training session prior to the start of the fall semester.

  • RTAs are required to attend weekly staff meetings.

  • All RTAs are expected to uphold, enforce and abide by all University policies and regulations. This is especially important as it relates to the use of licensed software.

  • Assisting Residents with initial setup of hardware and MUW computing accounts.

  • Assisting Residents with installation of Anti-Virus software.

  • Helping  to maintain security on the lab computers

  • Requesting supplies from the appropriate Community Director

  • Disseminating information to residents

  • Enforcing standards of conduct within the labs

  • Reporting any and all incidents to the appropriate Community Director

  • And all other duties as assigned by members of the Department of Community Living.

RTA Housing Policy

RTAs are required to live on campus in the residence halls. The following procedures are to be followed:

  • RTAs in upper classman halls are required to go through the lottery system to acquire on-campus housing. RTAs assigned to freshmen halls have designated rooms. However, they are guaranteed housing in their assigned hall.

  • Being terminated from the RTA position does not relinquish your obligation to campus housing. Once the Housing Agreement is signed, you have committed yourself to campus housing for the entire academic year.

Compensation

In remuneration for their services, RTAs are provided:

  • The cost of their double room to be awarded in four equal payments over the course of the academic year (August, November, January, & April).
