Nuts and Bolts sessions are designed to give you a basic introduction to the topic. If you like the software and want to learn more about advanced uses, please stop by a drop-in session or contact the Kossen Center and we’d be happy to set up an individual or small group appointment for further training.
Are you frustrated by repeated instances of plagiarism in your classes but not sure what you can do to stop it? You’re not alone! In this workshop we will discuss the root causes of plagiarism and other forms of academic dishonesty and what you can do now to reduce the number of plagiarism cases in your courses this semester. Techniques discussed will work for online or face-to-face classes.
Office Mix is a powerful tool that you can use to turn your PowerPoint presentations into interactive lessons. For example, you can record audio of yourself narrating a lesson, embed video of yourself speaking to students, and even record yourself drawing on your slides, all within the familiar landscape of Microsoft Office. Office Mix is a FREE add-on for PowerPoint and available for download online.
Gathering student feedback at mid-semester is optimal for an instructor to get the pulse of the course––to find out what students are thinking about the instructor, the course material, and their own learning–– when it is not too late to make adjustments if necessary. Learn about the benefits of a mid-semester evaluation and how the Kossen Center can help you gather, interpret, and utilize student feedback before the course ends.
Respondus 4.0 is a powerful tool for creating and managing exams that can be printed to paper or published directly to Canvas. Exams can be created offline using a familiar Windows environment, or moved from one LMS to another. Whether you are a veteran of online testing or relatively new to it, Respondus will save you hours on each test. If you like what you see, contact the CTL to set up free installation of Respondus 4.0 on your computer.
Stop by the lab for help with Canvas, Camtasia, Office Mix, Smarter Proctoring, Respondus, or any other teaching software supported by the Kossen Center. Feel free to bring along your course files and to work on a project in the lab where you can call on us for help as you need it. No appointment is necessary, come and go as you like!
