What is Marketing?
Marketing encompasses a wide rage of activities that facilitate transactions between buyers and sellers. The essence of the marketing profession is identifying customers needs and then guiding organizations to develop, distribute, price, and promote products and services. Marketing professionals work in many areas such as retail establishments, service industries, financial institutions, insurance agencies, pharmaceutical companies, consumer product companies, manufacturing, and non-profit agencies.

A concentration in marketing is designed as a comprehensive study that provides both a general business background and a special focus on marketing issues. Career opportunities in marketing are virtually unlimited because the profession is critical to the survival of any business. Starting salaries are competitive with other business majors, and opportunities for rapid career advancement are available in this field. This concentration provides an excellent foundation for further study in graduate and professional programs.
