What is General Business?
The General Business concentration is designed for
students who wish to obtain a breadth of knowledge in the fundamentals of
business. This concentration offers students the opportunity to earn a degree in
business without specializing a particular field. The concentration provides a
well-rounded program of study, and the flexibility for individual interests and
career planning. Emphasis is placed on understanding business concepts and their
application to solving business problems. Thus, the main objective of the
program is to develop future business leaders who are creative, knowledgeable,
innovative, ethical, and capable of adapting to the dynamic business environment
of today’s global marketplace.
General Business professionals work in many areas such as
department stores, service industries, financial
institutions, non-profit organizations, manufacturing firms
and government agencies. Thus, students in this program will
acquire the background and training necessary to manage
their own businesses or to enter the corporate world in a
wide variety of entry-level positions. This concentration
provides an excellent foundation for further study in
graduate and professional programs.
For students who
have completed their first two years of classes at a
community college, the College of Business offers the
opportunity to complete the last two years completely online
with its 2+2 online degree.
