Student Support
Training and support for students taking our online and hybrid courses is provided
in a number of ways.
During summer and fall terms, the ITS Department works
along side the Nursing Department and the
Center for Academic Excellence to provide Blackboard training
for the new Nursing, LPN, and LS
students. The workshops are presented in their departments, and it covers such topics as logging into Blackboard, locating your courses, using the Course Menu, using the Discussion Board, using the
Emails and Messages features, submitting assignments, and taking online tests.
The ITS Department also works along side the Center for Academic Excellence at the beginning of the
fall
term to conduct a workshop entitled "Navigating College Online Workshop". It is one of a series of the
center's Academic-Success Workshops that are presented each year. This particular session covers such
things as how to avoid computer viruses and scams, the basics of online learning, and the seriousness of
cheating online.
Listed below are self-help pdf files and videos that will show you how to do everything from requesting a
transcript to using mobile devices in an online class. If you have any questions, please don't hesistate
to contact our ITS
Department for further clarification.
Common Questions
Problems with your course
It is very important that you read over your syllabus at the beginning of the course and familarize yourself
with the course expectations. If you have any questions concerning your online or hybrid course, the first
point of contact should always be your instructor.
MUW Online contact information
Please review the MUW Contact Information link on the left side of the screen for important links, phone
numbers, and email addresses that could be helpful while you are enrolled in our online courses.
Blackboard Tests
It is our recommendation that you do not use a wireless connection or Internet Explorer while taking tests.
Some of the tests are set up with a force completion. Force completion tests only allow students to have
one attempt. If a connection is accidently lost while taking a test, the test would be considered as complete.
The likelihood of this happening is very high if students take a test with a wireless connection or Internet
Explorer.
