GOALS
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
1.    Identify traits of a self-directed learner
1.    Improve active learning strategies
2.    Improve problem solving skills
3.    Identify and utilize study and instructional aids offered by Academic Support Services
4.    Identify and utilize other support services available at MUW

COURSE CONTENT
Three semester hours developmental credit.  Hours for intermediate classes do not count toward hours required for graduation. This course is required for students who have completed the Summer Development Program, for those who are enrolled in two or more intermediate classes,  as well as others who desire to improve their skills level.  It is designed to strengthen basic academic and study skills by providing access to MUW support services.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
1.   Attend Class regularly
2.   Participate in study/lab sessions
        Computer tutorial
        Peer tutoring
        Group study sessions
3.    Complete readings and journal assignments
4.         Complete 6 chapter assessments
 
METHODS OF EVALUATION:
Pass/Fail grades will be based on the completion of course requirements.  To earn a passing grade students must
▸    attend 12/15 class meetings - Thursdays
▸    satisfactorily complete 6 chapter assessments,
▸    satisfactorily complete 6 online journal assignments
▸   Participate in 10/14 study/lab sessions - Tuesdays

ATTENDANCE POLICY: This class is designed to have a high degree of class discussion and in-class activities.   Seventy-five percent attendance is required for a passing grade for the class.

ACADEMIC DISHONESTY: Any student who plagiarizes the words or ideas of another person will receive a zero for the plagiarized assignment and will be referred to the university Academic Standards Committee for appropriate action.
